Before being transformed by renowned oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, this ship was merely a minesweeper.
Cousteau modified the vessel into the fabled Calypso by adding the Helicopter Padan, an underwater observation chamber, scientific tools, mini-submarines, underwater scooters, and more.
Almost all specialised equipment can be moved, including rotating-propeller helicopters, miniature submarines that are lowered using a winch, and anchors that are raised using a "chain."
Additionally, the model contains a special hand mechanism that propels the boat. It can go 3–4 metres on a level surface, thanks to the wheels.
